D.O.No.AIRF/PNM/28/2012                                                                      Dated: January 21, 2013

Dear Shri Seth,

Sub: Financial assistance to Railway Employees residing in Railway Colonies at Varanasi(NR) for the loss caused due to heavy rains

            Ref:  Railway Board’s letter No.E(W)2009/FU-4/8 dated 26.11.2012

As you are very well aware that on account of heavy rainfall in the month of August, 2008, the entire AEN Colony, Lehartara Colony, RMS Colony and New Loco Colony of Varanasi was flooded with water and there was around 3 to 4 ft. water-logging in and around the railway quarters in these Railway Colonies. This had resulted in huge loss of properties of the Railwaymen residing in these colonies. The ADRM, Lucknow, had personally visited the site and submitted a detailed report of the loss. Based on this report, Northern Railway had approached the Ministry of Railways to release money from Hon’ble Minister for Railway’s Relief Fund so as to compensate the Railwaymen for the loss of their properties.

Similar had been the case of Ambala Station of Northern Railway, wherein sanction from Hon’ble MR’s Relief Fund was conveyed to Northern Railway for the purpose of compensation to the flood victim  Railwaymen.

I would, therefore, request you to review the issue and necessary sanction from Hon’ble MR’s Relief Fund in the above-mentioned case may also be communicated to Northern Railway at an earliest as this issue is lingering for the last more than four years.

            With regards!

                                                                                                                            Yours sincerely,

   (Shiva Gopal Mishra)
