Dear Sir,

Sub: Extension of the validity of the Privilege/Duty/Complimentary Passes and PTOs – Reg.

Your kind attention is invited towards our earlier letter of even number dated 15th April, 2020 on the above subject matter.

As explained therein, the entire country is under complete lockdown, enforced by the Government of India, w.e.f. 24/25.03.2020, and the 4th term of this lockdown is extended up to 31st May, 2020. Owing to this countrywide lockdown, all the Passengers Trains(i.e. Local, Mail, Express), Superfast, Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Duronto Express etc., remain halted.

The Railwaymen(both Serving and Retired), who had planned to travel during this period and had either obtained Privilege/Complimentary Passes and PTOs for this purpose could not make use of it because of this situation.

As you are aware, in case of normal passengers who had booked their accommodations in various trains in advance for journey falling during this period of the lockdown, Ministry of Railways have already issued necessary instructions in regard to full refund of train fare up to 21st June, 2020, irrespective of their date of travel, but so far as journey on Privilege/Complimentary Passes and PTOs is concerned, no instructions have been issued from the Railway Board in this regard till date. There may be some cases where Railway employees had either got year-ending Passes issued or were planning to obtain the same, but due to the lockdown they could not avail this facility.

In view of the above explained situation it was requested that, validity of different kinds of Passes and PTOs in case of Railwaymen need to be extended up to six months on resumption of train services, so that, they can avail their Privilege/Complimentary Passes/PTOs to perform their journey in a hassle-free manner.

An early action in the matter is requested.
