Press Note of AIRF on the eve of Introduction of PFRDA BILL on the floor of Parliament.
New Delhi, 3rd September, 2013 – All India Railwaymen’s Federation(AIRF) has been opposing tooth and nail the New Pension Scheme since its inception w.e.f. 01.01.2004, as the same virtually takes away the right of Social Security of the Retired Railwaymen and their families.
The Standing Committee of the AIRF, in its meeting held on 8th August, 2013 in New Delhi, therefore, rightly decided to protest the Introduction of the PFRDA Bill in the Parliament by staging protests rallies, dharnas, demonstrations etc. at all the important places all over the Indian Railways on the very next day of the introduction of the Bill on the floor of the Parliament.
Since the PFRDA Bill has been introduced in the Parliament today, all the affiliates of the AIRF shall arrange strong protests throughout the country against the Bill as already decided by the AIRF.
AIRF is totally committed to protest against New Pension Scheme and is demanding restoration of the Old Pension Scheme for all the Railwaymen on the line of paramilitary forces, and in case the Government of India does not accede to this demand of the AIRF, we shall be compelled to decide for direct trade union action, including stoppage of trains.
